Questions You Want to Ask Yourself
Do I have a domain name?
There are some funnel programs that will offer a domain or give you a free domain. Using a free domain works when you first get started, but not for long, to grow your customer base you will definitely want to have your own customized domain name.
Do I already have a website?
If you currently have a website you want to decide if you want to integrate the CRM into your current website and forms to collect data or if you want to set up a new domain for your landing page. You may not need to do this. It might be just as effective to put a form on your website and integrate it so all data is going into your funnel.
Is the domain name I use already linked to a working website?
If you have a domain name linked to a working website you must be careful when setting up some funnel programs because if you link your domain to their program for anything other than email you are disconnecting it from your current server and putting it on theirs, which results in losing all your current site data.
Do I have a business email address?
If you have a domain name you should set up a business email, it looks more professional to your potential customers and it makes it easier to set up other marketing tools. Some software programs will not even let you use them without a professional email. When they say this they mean no free email accounts like outlook, gmail, ymail, yahoo, etc.
Do I use a form builder or do I need one?
If you have a website with a form builder that you are already using will it easily integrate with the funnel program you are thinking about using? If not, does the funnel program have a form builder which gives you the ability to embed the forms on your website or landing page? Everything has to connect together to work properly. The other thing to think about is how those forms will show up on your current website if you are using the form builder in your funnel software, you want them to match your current layout and not look like they don’t belong there.
Do I want to use SMS campaigns?
Some programs have SMS integrated with them, others easily integrate an SMS tool, and others don’t quite have that option yet without using added programs like Zapier to make it work. If you expect that you are going to use SMS or geotracking you might want to make sure it is easily integrated into what you are currently doing.
Do I want to use push notifications?
Push notifications can be set up through your website or through your funnel software if it is available on either one. If this is something that interests you and you think you might need to start with or add on in the future make sure it is something that goes with the programs you are choosing.
Have I broken down my process into stages?
If you haven’t really broken down your processes yet it will be difficult to decide exactly what tools you will need and what stages you will be using them in. Having the process in your head makes sense to you, but it may not make sense to new employees, customers, and other companies. The most important part is knowing what you need ahead of time so you don’t have to add something in during the build that would cause the build to have to be started over or added costs for additional tools to make the process work properly.
Am I separating my marketing funnels from my pipeline or am I doing them together?
Many times people see pipelines and funnels as the same thing, however, the funnel is what the customer needs to see and do, whereas the pipeline is what the sales team needs to see and do. If you aren’t separating these two you may miss some steps. Breaking this down for all parties involved will make the build much simpler when you get started.
Am I set up on Google with Google My Business?
If you aren’t set up with a proper Google account sometimes it makes it hard to do certain things on your website or with your forms. For instance, reCaptcha to prevent spam is very important, and although there are alternatives, Google’s works very well and doesn’t cost any additional amount of money. All you have to do is have your Google business account set up properly.
